Relics of dawner days

Keepsakes of days you want to remember

Though you’re sure you’d recall them anyway

A ticket stub fondled to illegibility

The only one you ever felt was eligible

You didn’t know whether she felt it herself

You didn’t think to ask

Because you’re selfish

So you thought of yourself

In all things saw yourself

So when self hatred duly came

You hated the world just the same.
