Lover’s Declaration I

Temple by verdant garden girdled

Mellifluous dares divers thereheard

Trees herded to queer shapes, none straight

Pensieve benches at pleasant station, jasmine scented

Roses twinned gracefully, chimeras dually-blazed

Amazing escarpments and frontage

Fruit like feast’s coloured bunting strung

Bid wonder, with odd frond parloured

Engrossing topiary of Her Father’s grand garden.

Sunflower wheels orange-spoked, fire-smoking Ezekiel careening

How all is laid perfectly

Mayflooers in circles

Circussing cowslip, a dread hydra blazing

Herakles ruined at Hylas’ death setting alight stumps

Whose head at his aggravated blade slumped, dead.

Such stringent arrangement, such cryptic gylph in posie writ

There abounding on the lip testamential Ediths, snowtipped

Edicts to some greenfingered patience

Here as from a manger enlarging

Gold as gold in chests, takebreathing

Appealing yet to pluck one

Eve treason in Elfland

Land’s largesse a foliate hem west-spreading, gem-decked.

She with spurning eye, scorn-seeking, treats suitors a sigh

Icy diamond death, false heat

That kind of world her melancholy eye reports

Climb’ry ivory pillar upcurled

Furled curls foam her girdle

Which ardent lovers throng

Desiring word of bondage

Many deeds honorable

Indeed urn-earning

Turning in tourney, swirling Dervish

Upon sanded surface, crabs curlew murdered astew in sun simmering

Simperers fearing heat or blade keep to shade, sweet verse replaying.
